Being a camper means choosing to spend your holidays camping, in the open air, in a natural environment. This environment needs to be protected, which is why we are doing our bit by gradually improving our practices as part of the \u00abSustainable Camping Plan\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable tourism with Ademe<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
For many years, our teams have been managing the campsite, doing their utmost to respecting nature and the environment<\/strong>. This human commitment becomes a commitment for the Mirabel family group in 2024. Because we wanted to go further, we imagined all the improvements we could make and decided to apply for help from Ademe. In the spring, the application was accepted and we were able to get the ball rolling!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here is the list of actions in the programme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinan Cap Fr\u00e9hel eco-responsible charter<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
To confirm our local involvement<\/strong>, We also subscribe to the charter for our region, Dinan - Cap Fr\u00e9hel. We start with 1 leaf and then 2 stages to reach 3 leaves. This charter helps us to stay on course with a simple objective: to contribute to the development of a responsible tourism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Committed camper kit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
For limiting the environmental impact of holidays<\/strong>, The first thing we did was to take stock of the practices that were still in place at the campsite. We realised that certain habits adopted during the Covid crisis had remained even though they were no longer useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcome kit<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
We first decided to replace the disposable welcome kit. <\/strong>Before, when campers arrived in their bungalow, they received a cardboard box with single-use products: very practical but not very respectful of our planet. Today, when you move into your holiday rental, you'll find a practical, virtuous kit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sorting containers: yellow basket and compost bucket<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Previously, all bedding protectors were replaced and discarded after each stay, even for 2-night stays. Today we have invested in quality, washable mattress protectors<\/strong>. Choosing washable and sustainable solutions means making a commitment to reducing the amount of waste produced during your holidays.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Less waste at the campsite<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
We all know that on holiday we want to simplify our lives. Sorting your rubbish isn't always easy, so we've put together some simple information to help you do it without getting in over your head!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sorting and recovery<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Waste sorting is in place at the campsite and we have added notice boards for greater clarity. The containers made available to holidaymakers make it easier to sort waste at source. At the campsite reception, we have bins available for collecting used batteries, light bulbs, bottle tops, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The technical and green spaces teams also play an important role in reducing waste: everyone comes up with ideas for reuse rather than throw away. <\/strong>For example, all the flowerbeds are surrounded by mulch. This mulch is produced on site using pruned branches from the campsite. This reduces the amount of green waste and the need to water the plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Composting<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Taking waste management even further, We have also created areas for collecting vegetable waste and bio-waste. <\/strong>In 2024, we decided to make our own compost bin from scrap wood. The bin was functional, but it was too open, and the problems soon began. The management of bio-waste is complex because of its nature and the quantities deposited. We tried out a number of solutions before deciding to install professional bins with rodent-proof grids. Composting will always be carried out on site to avoid treatment and transport costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We're all in this together!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The campsite is partly residential, and it is our year-round residents who play an active part in the life of the campsite. With the support of the town of Dinan (whom we thank for the loan), we have organised awareness-raising games<\/strong> to the challenge of waste sorting. Participants brought their grandchildren along for a fun and practical discussion. In the summer, the organisers regularly offer nature activities <\/strong>and we even carried out the first: \u00abmission goutte verte\u00bb in 2025. These were fun challenges that teams took on around the theme of protecting the environment. The holidaymakers have a great time, and we take the opportunity to introduce a few themes that are close to our hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water management at the campsite<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Water is a precious resource and will be even more so in a few years' time, so we need to think ahead to protect it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rainwater harvesting<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The first action we have put in place is the\u2019installation of water recovery systems <\/strong>in the paths of the campsite. We started with small containers and are continuing with larger capacities for watering plants and maintaining the campsite. An undeniable advantage of this system is that it keeps a stock of water for periods of drought without affecting the water table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Consumption monitoring<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Water leaks are a recurring problem at campsites, so to detect them we install a meter with a remote reading sensor. This allows us to monitor water consumption in real time<\/strong>. This tool enables us to identify abnormal or excessive consumption so that we can take action on the networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Limiting evaporation at the pool<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Water evaporation is one of the main causes of water loss from swimming pools. It's a waste of water resources that we can do something about. In 2026, work will begin to cover the pool! Pool cover <\/strong>can reduce water consumption by up to 50% over the season. It will also limit heat loss. For the campsite, it's also an opportunity to open the pool throughout the season without increasing water and energy consumption.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
